I left my house at 6:40 to make it to this session to capture the waking up of the little ones in this family. How awesome is it that I was welcomed into this families home, just as they were waking up, in order for me to document their everyday lives? Sessions like this make my heart sing!
When I arrived, Sofia was already up but still a bit groggy! Jack was still snuggled in with dad so we let them sleep just a little while longer. I hung out with mom and Sofia downstairs and just chatted about the day ahead of us. I spent about 6 hours with this family and we had so much fun.
Once Jack and dad got up - breakfast was started (pancakes and syrup) and the fun began. Lots of arts and crafts were done throughout the morning, as well as game playing, tomato picking, legos and more. After lunch we took a nice stroll around the neighborhood and then it was nap time for the little guy so that was when I packed up and headed home.
When I first arrived, Jack was a bit shy but within 30 min. we were best buds. And little Ms. Sofia became my best friend right away. I got sooo many hugs that day it was amazing. I also learned a bit about Ecuadorian art as mom is from Ecuador. I even went home with a BEAUTIFUL Ecuadorian table cloth that was brought over here to the states when grandma came to visit. I can't wait to get it on my dining room table! It was such a special gift and it will forever remind me of this awesome session.
Getting to know my clients is one of my favorite parts about these storytelling sessions. I learn so much about a family in the 6+ hours I spend with them that allows me to continue our relationship after the session is over. I know I am looking forward to see how their (already huge) garden expands over the next few years! Thanks again Denman Family for an awesome morning in Rockaway, New Jersey.
