My first newborn session of 2017 was perfect. I am LOVING the way it came out.
It’s always a bit nerve wracking when I pick up my camera after a few weeks of not shooting (always slow around the holidays/New Year) and I was so happy to kick off the year with a family I’ve photographed in the past. The last time I saw them was at their older daughter’s newborn session in 2015. I was beyond excited when Mom contacted me again to set up a session to document their newest addition to their family, baby girl Olivia.
This time around was a little different though. I arrived at their house with just my camera. For our first session together, I was still doing posed newborn sessions with baskets, blankets and props! I love that even though I am now shooting in a new style, Mom still wanted me to come capture memories for them. She understood that my newborn sessions are a bit different now, no posing, no props – just real life and a lot less stressful. She has no need to worry about if her newborn would sleep for hours on end to get that perfect pose, and also didn’t have to worry about her almost 2-year-old being dolled up and prepped for the perfect sibling photo. Real life is not picture perfect – and the shots I got told a true story of how life is now, with two girls under the age of 2, and a puppy!
One of my favorite things to capture is the interaction between Mom and her now two daughters. I know I wish I had some of these images with my mom and sister when I was just a few weeks old – so I hope these images will be cherished by these two sisters when they get older.
I hope you love this session as much as I do – I look forward to sharing more sessions over the next few weeks!
