I want to take you on a little journey of this newborn session – sit back and relax and enjoy the images!
I got a voicemail from Mom on Superbowl Sunday calling to tell me she was due with baby #2 in about a week or so and that she’d love for me to come out to their home and document their soon to be family of 4. Of course I said yes and we started chatting via email about the session!
I met The LeMay family in 2014 when they headed out to my studio for their son’s Cake Smash session. I then saw them in 2015 for a family session when Jackson (son #1) turned two! I was so excited to meet baby boy #2 and to see this amazing family again.
The morning after Superbowl, I woke up to an email saying Jamison arrived that night! Mom had an in-home birth and I was just amazed at how she thought to email me right after he arrived! This is how you know images are so important to a family! So yeh, back to how quickly Jamison arrived! WHOA! Baby and Mom were doing awesome and I could not wait to get out there and capture these first few days of his life.
It was a Friday morning and it was a beautiful day for a drive. Did I mention they live about 80+ miles from me?! I made myself a hot tea and put on a great podcast and hit the road. I was beyond excited that I was able to head out to PA for the day to see The LeMay’s. I got to drive through the country side of New Jersey and came across some really awesome places; places I’m not sure I would have ever found if it were not for this session!
I don’t think the session could have gone any better. Jamison slept THE WHOLE TIME! He was a dream newborn. Big brother Jackson had so much fun too – peaking in on his brother, playing around the house, and enjoyed some chips/dip while he watched Trolls. I mean – the life of a three-year-old is pretty sweet! HA!
After the session, (which was about 1.5 hours – can’t beat Lifestyle sessions!!!) I hung around for a bit and chatted with Mom. I honestly felt like we could have talked for hours. It’s always such a great feeling when you are so comfortable with your clients that they soon just become friends! I can’t wait to head out to PA again to visit some local breweries with The LeMay Family (bonus points for a family that LOVES craft beer!)
The reason for me telling this story today is to let you know that newborn sessions can be super casual and relaxed and beautiful images will still be captured. No posing or props needed, just real life and real moments. Lifestyle newborns are a bit guided (as a newborn does not do much!) but it’s the interaction I capture when slightly directing a family!
I’d love for you to share this story with someone you know who may be expecting a new addition to their family soon – I’d love to chat!
