WOW! What an honor...I was accepted into my first ever photography gallery at Bergen County Camera located in Westwood, New Jersey. There were 20 finalist picked out of over one hundred entries and I was one of them.
The photo I submitted was taken in Napa, California in December 2012. Matt and I were on our third trip out there and our first stop; like always; was at Domaine Chandon; a champagne winery. It was a rainy day, but we were in Napa...nothing was going to hold us back. So after our tasting and our first glass of champagne to start off our trip, we strolled back to the car and these large water lilies caught my eye. So of course, with my camera permanently in my hands, I walked down to a little pond and started snapping pictures. The little drops on these large leaves were just amazing. I didn't think anything of it, and we continued onto the next winery.
Flash forward to February 2014. My friend and co-worker Bridget sent me a link to Bergen County Camera's photo contest. The theme was "water" so I started looking through some pictures from the past few months. And then I remembered the rain drop picture I took out in Napa. I submitted and crossed my fingers. I had no clue how many finalist there would be or how many entries they would be receiving.
On March 14, 2014 I received an email congratulating me on being a finalist for the BCC "Your Point of View: Water" show. WHATTT? My picture was going to hang in a gallery amongst nineteen other amazing photographers photos. Opening night was last Thursday and I was so excited. It was surreal seeing a photo I took hanging in a gallery.
My parents, my best friend Ami and my husband came to support me, as well as a surprise visit from a very good friend; Sylvia. Thank you all so much for being there with me and supporting me! I will be submitted more photos to local galleries in the upcoming months!
The show runs until April 19! So if you have some time this Saturday, stop by and look at all the amazing photos. Photos are on sale for $200 so if there is something that catches your eye, why not purchase it and have an original photo from a local photographer!
